Dosimeters are used to track occupational radiation exposure. Dosimeters are returned every 2 months in order to identify possible problems on a continuing basis. Wearing a dosimeter is required for some radiation use and is determined by Radiation Safety. Radiation Safety manages all dosimetry for radiation users on the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú´«Ã½ÎÄ»¯×÷Æ· and CU Colorado Springs campuses. To apply for a dosimeter, follow the steps below:
- Complete appropriate Radiation Safety Training module on SciShield (Search Course Directory under the Training link).
- Fill out the Dosimetry Application (fillable PDF) with as much information as possible.
- Return completed form toÌýRadiation SafetyÌývia email (radsafety@colorado.edu), campus mail (413 UCB), or in person at the Environmental Health and Safety Center (1000 Regent Drive).
Fetal monitoring is available upon request. Radiation dose limit is lower during pregnancy. A pregnant worker must declare their pregnancy and fill out the Fetal Dosimetry application form below to be assigned fetal monitors. Fetal dosimeters are exchanged on a monthly basis.
