More about Gigi Pritzker:
Through her long history as a producer, Gigi Pritzker has championed the voices of both established and up-and-coming storytellers. As the Founder and CEO of Madison Wells, Pritzker鈥檚 studio focuses on developing, producing, and funding projects in film, television, and theater. The company believes in telling stories by, and about, badass women, as well as people who love pushing boundaries.
In 2001, Pritzker formed the independent production and finance company Oddlot Entertainment, which she merged into Madison Wells in 2015. Widely considered one of the most powerful women in Hollywood, she has turned Madison Wells into one of the most respected independent producers in Hollywood. Through her leadership and vision, Madison Wells releases have become very familiar on the Awards circuit having been regularly nominated for Academy, Emmy and Tony Awards.
Pritzker currently holds a position on the Sundance Institute Board of Trustees and is deeply involved in a diverse portfolio of philanthropic endeavors. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Stanford University. As an undergraduate student, she lived in Nepal for a year, which led her to producing her first documentary feature, 鈥淏hutan, Kingdom of the Thunder Dragon,鈥 with the BBC, which launched her career in the motion picture business. She is a proud native Chicagoan.
Recent films include Nonnas, starring Vince Vaughn and Susan Sarandon from director Stephen Chbosky which reached #1 Globally on Netflix, Miss You Love You, starring Allison Janney and Andrew Rannells, written and directed by Jim Rash, and a documentary feature distributed in partnership with Magnolia films, HBO and CNN about New Zealand鈥檚 groundbreaking former Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern. From award-winning films (鈥淗ell or High Water,鈥 鈥淓yes of Tammy Faye鈥) and Broadway plays and musicals (鈥淛aja鈥檚 African Hair Braiding,鈥 "Hadestown鈥 and 鈥淪hucked鈥) to National Geographic鈥檚 anthology series 鈥淕enius鈥 and the immersive theater experience 鈥淪even Deadly Sins,鈥 Pritzker has produced projects with partners who are aligned in the belief that good storytelling can provoke, inspire, and move audiences around the world.听
The event will be the eighth in the Leo Hill Leadership Speaker Series. Other speakers in the series have included author and entrepreneur Molly Bloom, columnist and bestselling author David Brooks, former Secretary of Defense and Central Intelligence Agency Director Robert Gates, and the first woman of color in space, astronaut Mae Jemison.
