Completing the Online CITI Course on Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)
Note: This online course does not satisfy NIH requirements, only NSF requirements. Beginning in October 2025, any NSF-funded researcher required to take RCR training must also take 兔子先生传媒文化作品鈥檚 Research Security Training through Skillsoft-Percipio (CU: Research Security Training -U10019), to ensure that researchers funded by the NSF are trained in research security and export controls as part of their RCR training.

For New Users
If you are a new user, click on the Register Here link and register:
- Under Participating Institutions, scroll down and click University of Colorado at Boulder.
- Create your username and password as instructed.
- Enter your name, CU听Boulder email address and complete remaining prompts.听Click Submit.
- You will then be taken to a new page with contact information.听Complete the page (required information is marked by an asterisk).听Click Submit.
- A new page entitled Select Curriculum 鈥 University of Colorado at Boulder听then will appear.听Scroll down to the heading Responsible Conduct of Research听and select the course appropriate for your discipline and/or field of research.听 All undergraduate students, regardless of field or discipline, should select the course for undergraduate students.听Click Submit.
- You will then see a new page Select your institution or organization.听If you wish only to be registered with the University of Colorado at Boulder, click No;
- A new page entitled Main Menu will appear.听Under My Courses, Status click Enter.听 A new page showing a list of Elective Modules followed by Optional Modules will be shown.听 To begin, click on and complete The Integrity Assurance Statement.听Continue.
- The lists of Elective Modules followed by Optional Modules will appear again.听Complete each Elective Module (including the quiz at the end).听Complete any Optional Modules of interest.
- Print out your CITI completion report for the course and retain a copy for your records.
For Previous Users
If you have already registered with CITI for their Human Subjects Research or Laboratory Animal Welfare courses, login with your username and password.
You willl see the courses you have already done at the top of the screen. Scroll to the bottom where it says:

- Click on "Add a Course"
If there is still a note about the COVID curriculum, you can choose either
听 Yes 听 Not at this time. Then click听 Next
- Choose Responsible Conduct of Research, then click Next
- Select the course appropriate for your discipline and/or field of research.听 All undergraduate students, regardless of field or discipline, should select the course for undergraduate students.听Click Next.
- Go to step 7 above and follow the instructions through step 10.
Additional Information for Users
- You do not need to complete the course in one session.听You may log-out at any time and return to complete modules at your convenience.
- You must complete all modules with a combined score of 80.听If you would like to improve your score on a quiz you may repeat it.
- Review of the content and completion of the quizzes will take about 30-35 minutes per module for the main topics;
- If you are uncertain if you require training in the responsible conduct of research at CU听Boulder, please see the Responsible Research page, or contact the Responsible Conduct of Research Coordinator at rcr@colorado.edu in the Research & Innovation Office.

- Submit a voluntary, anonymous user satisfaction survey.听It鈥檚 quick and will help inform us about the effectiveness of this online course.
- If students or postdocs complete an online RCR course other than through CU听Boulder, they must submit an听RCR Completion Form.听Sign the original and submit it to the RCR Coordinator (campus mailbox: 99 UCB). Give a copy to your mentor/PI for the NIH- or NSF-funded award, and keep a copy for your records.
Research Security and Export Controls Training through Skillsoft-Percipio
Instructions:
- Log in: to your campus portal at my.cu.edu.听
- Find the "CU Resources" menu: (it might be a dropdown menu in the top left or top right of the screen).听
- Select "Training": from the menu.听
- Click on the Skillsoft Percipio tile: to open the learning platform.听
- Browse: Select "Library" from the left-hand menu to explore available courses.听
- Search: Use the search field to find the course titled 鈥淩esearch Security鈥澨
- Click on the course titled 鈥淐U: Research Security Training - u10019鈥澨
- Click the 鈥淟aunch鈥 tile to begin the course.
